Dr. Adewumi Alabi
Oncologist
Adewumi Alabi is a consultant clinical and radiation oncologist at the NSIA-Lagos University Teaching Hospital Cancer Centre (NLCC) and also a Lecturer at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She is also an IAEA fellow from Stellenbosch University/Tygerberg Hospital, Cape town, South Africa.
Dr. Alabi specialises in the treatment of adult solid tumours with special interest in prostate, breast and gynaecological cancer using the latest radiation technology - including Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Volumetric Arc Radiotherapy (VMAT), and High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy. She also has several years of experience using chemotherapeutic agents, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
Dr. Alabi has helped write institutional guidelines and departmental protocols using internationally accepted best practice guidelines. She lectures undergraduate, postgraduate and paramedics in oncology. She is a member of the African Organisation in Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), American Society of Clinical Oncology(ASCO), Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC), International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS), Association of Clinical and Radiation Oncologist in Nigeria (ARCON), and several other national organisations.
She is actively involved in cancer advocacy and education. She has a passion for clinical research with a focus on finding the best treatment for cancer, quality of life, and issues related to cancer survivorship. In addition, She has received many research grants, and has published several international and local articles in peer-reviewed journals, including top journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology and RED Journal. Dr. Alabi is an investigator in an ongoing clinical trial ARETTA - Assessing response of breast cancer patients to treatment.
