Prof. Fasanmade received his MBBS from the University of Ibadan in 1987. He had his residency training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH), Nigeria between 1989 and 1994. He was a research assistant in the same unit 1994-1996. He had a short training fellowship in City Hospital Schwabing, Munich in 1994 under world renowned Prof. Eberhard Standl.
Prof. Fasanmade is the Unit Head of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism division of the Department of Medicine in the CMUL and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). He completed a 4-year tenure as the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of LUTH in 2019. Thereafter he was appointed Chief Clinical Coordinator in the NSIA-LUTH cancer centre in September 2020. He is the President of the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria and the previous Chairman of the Nigeria Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is an examiner and the sub-specialty head, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism of the West African College of Physicians.
He has authored and co-authored 5 books and has 120 publications in peer reviewed journals and more than 300 abstracts and posters presented locally and internationally. He has trained/supervised more than 30 fellows (specialists) in medicine, surgery, family medicine, radiology and other specialities.
